Quoto ru .- The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant UAZ presented the company’s development strategy for the coming years. As Mikhail Guryanov, technical director of UAZ, explained at a forum, the company does not plan to produce new models, but instead focuses on substitution around 400 components imported from abroad by 53 suppliers.
Therefore, the carmaker plans to replace all these parts with Russian and Chinese counterparts. The company also wants to find suppliers from the so-called “friendly” countries who can supply, among other things, automatic transmissions, airbags and traction control systems. In addition, UAZ plans to resume work on the electrification of existing vehicles in the near future.
As reported earlier, the UAZ started to equip its cars with engines of the Euro-0 eco-standard. From September 2022, UAZ Hunter SUVs and commercial vehicles can be purchased both with the ZMZ-40906 Euro-5 engine and with the simplified ZMZ-40911 unit. UAZ cars with a non-environmentally friendly engine are available in the same modifications as conventional ones.
