Russia’s truck output down 6.7% in January-July 2013

Truck production (including chassis-cabs and light trucks) in Russia fell 6.7% year on year to 105.6 thousand units in the first seven months of 2013, according to ASM Holding analysts. Out of the total production figure, domestic truck output was 90.7 thousand units (down 6.7%), and foreign-brand truck output was 14.9 thousand units (down 7.1%).

Car sales in Russia down 10.6% in the first seven months of 2013
Passenger car wholesales fell 10.6% year on year to 1,490.9 thousand units in January-July 2013, according to ASM Holding analysts. The total sales volume splits into the market segments as follows: domestic models – 284.3 thousand units (19.1% market share); locally assembled foreign models – 740.4 thousand units (49.6%); imported new foreign cars – 460.9 thousand units (30.9%); used imports – 5.3 thousand units (0.4% of the car market).

Russia’s car output down 3.3% in January-July 2013

Passenger car production in Russia fell 3.3% year on year to 1,075.1 thousand units in January-July 2013, according to ASM Holding analysts. Of the total, output of domestic car models was down 15.3% to 300.1 thousand units, while foreign-brand car output rose 2.3% to 775.0 thousand units.

Russia’s automobile market down 11.5% in January-July 2013

A downward trend, which appeared last March, continued and aggravated on the Russian automobile market through July 2013. Cumulative wholesales of all type motor vehicles (cars, trucks and buses) fell 11.5% year on year to 1,688.2 thousand units in January-July 2013, according to ASM Holding analysts.

Russia’s total production of motor vehicles (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) fell 3.6% year on year to 1,209.7 thousand units in January-July 2013, according to ASM Holding analysts’ data. A decline of production is reported through all sectors of the automotive industry.

Current forecast of vehicle production in Russia for 2013

Based on the manufacturers’ results in January-June, ASM Holding analysts have corrected their last month’s Russia vehicle production forecast for the full year 2013. The current 2013 output forecast is as follows: passenger cars – 1,937,493 units (of them foreign models 1,348,033 units); trucks – 202,236 units (of them foreign models 30,989 units); buses – 57,247 units (of them foreign models 10,759 units). The forecast of car production lags behind the last five years’ best result (1,968,789 units in 2012) by 1.6%, while annual forecasts of truck and bus output yield to the best production results of 2008 by 20.3% and 14.6% respectively.

Bus sales in Russia down 16.0% in the first six months of 2013

Bus wholesales fell 16.0% year on year to 26.9 thousand vehicles in January-June 2013, according to ASM Holding analysts. Sales of domestic-branded buses dominated the market with 17.6 thousand units and a 65.4% market share. The second biggest segment was sales of foreign-branded buses assembled in Russia with 5.7 thousand units and a 21.3% share. New imports were 3.5 thousand buses (12.8%), and used imports were only 127 buses with a 0.5% market share.

Russia’s bus output down 2.6% in January-June 2013

Bus production (including minibuses and “work-team buses” on truck chassis) in Russia fell 2.6% year on year to 24.8 thousand units in the first six months of 2013, according to ASM Holding analysts. Of the total production figure, output of domestic models was 19.1 thousand vehicles (down 11.4%), while foreign-brand bus output rose 45.6% to 5.7 thousand units.

Truck sales in Russia down 12.0% in the first six months of 2013

Truck wholesales were 146.5 thousand units in January-June 2013, down 12.0% on the year, according to ASM Holding analysts. Domestic-branded trucks grabbed the biggest market share (72.1 thousand units; 49.2%). Sales of foreign-branded trucks assembled in Russia were 12.6 thousand units, or 8.6% of the market. New imports were 57.6 thousand trucks (39.3%), and used imports were 4.2 thousand trucks (2.9% of the market).

Out of the total production figure, domestic truck output was 80.0 thousand units (down 4.7%), and foreign-brand truck output was 12.7 thousand units (down 3.6%).

Passenger car wholesales fell 9.3% year on year to 1,286.8 thousand units in January-June 2013, according to ASM Holding analysts. The total sales volume splits into the market segments as follows: domestic models – 239.6 thousand units (18.6% market share); locally assembled foreign models – 646.5 thousand units (50.3%); imported new foreign cars – 396.4 thousand units (30.8%); used imports – 4.3 thousand units (0.3% of the car market).

Passenger car production in Russia fell 3.4% year on year to 927.0 thousand units in January-June 2013, according to ASM Holding analysts. Of the total, output of domestic car models was down 16.9% to 249.9 thousand units, while foreign-brand car output rose 2.7% to 677.1 thousand units.

Based on the manufacturers’ results in January-May, ASM Holding analysts adjust upwards their last month’s Russia vehicle production forecast for the full year 2013. The current 2013 output forecast is as follows: passenger cars – 1,943,469 units (of them foreign models 1,342,719 units); trucks – 201,961 units (of them foreign models 31,019 units); buses – 57,016 units (of them foreign models 10,842 units). The forecast of car production lags behind the last five years’ best result (1,968,789 units in 2012) by 1.3%, while annual forecasts of truck and bus output yield to the best production results of 2008 by 20.4% and 14.9% respectively.
